Terms & Conditions

Last updated: June 22, 2026 · This page is maintained by builds.bike to describe the terms that apply to use of the builds.bike service.

1. Who you are contracting with

These terms are a binding agreement between you and builds.bike (the "Seller", "we", "us") regarding your use of the builds.bike website, applications, and services (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you confirm that you have the legal authority to enter into this agreement and that you are of legal age in your jurisdiction.

2. The Service

builds.bike provides bicycle component compatibility checks, smart part identification, a digital garage to track bikes and builds, a shop chat assistant, and related tools. Information returned by the Service is provided as a research aid; you are responsible for verifying part specifications and safe installation before use.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Service. In particular, you must not:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or to commit fraud or spam;
  • Infringe the intellectual property rights of builds.bike or any third party;
  • Probe, scan, scrape, reverse-engineer, or otherwise interfere with the security or integrity of the Service;
  • Upload malware, harmful code, or content you do not have the right to share;
  • Resell or redistribute the Service or its outputs except as permitted in writing.

4. Your account

You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep it up to date. You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

5. Smart features and accuracy

Several features of the Service rely on automated models to identify parts, assess compatibility, and answer mechanic questions. Outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date. You are responsible for your prompts, for verifying the accuracy of outputs against authoritative manufacturer documentation, and for ensuring you have the rights to any content you upload. Outputs are not professional, financial, or regulated advice. You must moderate how you act on outputs that affect safety — for example, when installing or torquing parts.

6. Intellectual property

We retain all right, title, and interest in the Service, its software, documentation, branding, and underlying data, subject to any third-party rights. You retain ownership of content you upload (such as photos of your bike and parts). You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host and process that content solely to provide the Service to you.

7. Payment and subscriptions

Our paid subscription, "Shop Pass", is processed by our payment provider, Stripe. Payment terms, billing frequency, taxes, refunds, and cancellations are governed by Stripe's End User Terms in addition to our own Refund Policy.

8. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service for material breach of these terms, non-payment, suspected fraud or security risk, or repeated or serious policy violations. You may stop using the Service at any time by cancelling your subscription and closing your account.

9. No warranty

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any output, compatibility verdict, or part identification is correct. Always confirm against the manufacturer's documentation before purchasing or installing a part.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the fees paid by you to Stripe for the Service during the 12 months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special damages including loss of profits, loss of data, or loss of goodwill. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or by email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
